For Science, Year 4 have been focusing on changes of state (solids, liquids and gases). We have been trying to find out how changes of state occur. What is needed to change a solid object into a liquid state? To explore and investigate this, we made chocolate rice krispie cakes. We learnt how to change a solid bar of chocolate into a liquid state by heating it up. The chocolate as a liquid state made it easier to then mix with the solid rice krispies. We discovered that once we left the rice krispie cakes to cool down, the liquid chocolate became solid again, but the shape had changed to mold around the rice krispies.

Have a look at the pictures to see what we did at each part of the investigation and maybe even try it at home!
