We know it looks a lot to start with but this is just a guide. All homework set is used to reinforce the teaching that is happening in class that week. We understand some children will at times find it tricky but all we ask is they have a go and try their best!

Homework is set on a Monday and due on the Friday, except Creative home learning which is set on a Friday and due on a Friday.

Reading

We ask the children to read 5 times a week at home for 10 minutes. It would be really helpful if you could record this in their reading diaries – even if it’s just with an initial. Inside the reading diary you will find suggestions of comments you may choose to record. Like last year, the children will have access to the Bug Club reading platform.

Maths & Grammar

Each week a task will be set from the Maths and Grammar CGP books. You will receive a note telling you which task page to complete. Again this should take no longer than 10/15 minutes. Don’t worry if at first it seems a little tricky – all we ask is your child has a try and does their best ?

In addition to this children will be set My Maths homework, this will need to be completed online. Children have the opportunity to complete this in school during lunchtime. This year children will also have access to TT Rockstars where they can choose to practise their timetables. Log in details will be sent home.

Spelling

Each week your child will receive some spellings to learn at home. We encourage the children to practice using them by putting them into a sentence, as often they learn the word in a list but can’t put it into their writing.

Creative Home Learning

This is your chance to be creative! You will be provided with an overview of the tasks for the whole half term. This is an opportunity to have some fun with homework and take it in a direction of your choice. Go wild!
