The school has a strong musical tradition.
All the children in Year 5 learn a musical instrument and are encouraged to continue to learn this in Year 6 and at secondary school. This teaching is provided by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham School Music Service. Children in Year 4 also receive specialist music lessons in preparation for Year 5.
The school uses assemblies as well as lesson time to teach different musical styles and develop the children’s musical knowledge.
We have two very active school choirs who sing in events in Dagenham and around London. Currently our senior choir are the East London Choir Champions. Our choirs also perform at a variety of school events and once a year we hire the theatre at Dagenham Park Secondary School to showcase their work. Quite often this is in partnership with our drama club.
Some of our children choose to learn to play drums on the drum kit through lessons at the school provided by a company called Groove Attack.
