Year 1 visited Valence house last half term in December to learn about how the Victorian people used to celebrate Christmas.

They learnt about the reasons why the Victorians used to decorate Christmas trees and compared Victorian Christmas tree decorations to modern decorations we have nowadays.

Later during the day, the children took part in making a Victorian Christmas pudding from scratch studying the special, traditional ingredients Victorians would have used. Moreover, every child got to make a special wish whilst they mixed the pudding!

The children had a fantastic time and all took home handmade cornucopias, which were used to carry sweets inside by Victorian children!
