This term we have been learning all about the Great Fire of London. What a fascinating term it has been!

As we had enjoyed the topic so much we were given the opportunity to relive this extraordinary event.

We dressed up as if we were children who lived through the Great Fire of 1666. We were taken back in time to London during the Plague and then to the day the Great Fire started. Walking through history, we participated in events that took place each day until King Charles II finally ordered his men to use gunpowder to blow up houses to stop the fire spreading.

Samuel Pepys greeted us at the door 🙂

This was just before the beloved family dog caught the plague 🙁

Unfortunately poor Mrs Clarke caught the plague…the ending wasn’t pleasant!

King Charles II was informed of the dreadful fire that was raging through the city.

People lined the streets passing buckets of water from the River Thames in an attempt to put the fire out.

Once the fire had stopped Sir Christopher Wren designed and built a better London.
